Dr. Joebelle Bonete is a devoted optometrist who grew up in Makawao, Maui, where she developed a deep compassion for others and a love for the community. Now living in Portland, OR, she is committed to building meaningful connections with her patients, empowering them to prioritize their vision health with care and warmth.
Dr. Bonete earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Colby College. She obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry and received the Optelec Excellence in Low Vision Award. She completed her primary care and ocular disease residency at the VA Portland Health Care System, where she has further enhanced her skills in diagnosing and managing various ocular conditions including macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Bonete is a member of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association, American Optometric Association, and American Academy of Optometry. Outside her practice, she enjoys singing karaoke, cheering on the Portland Trailblazers, and exploring the Pacific Northwest with her fiancé, Sam.
